Sunrise over the frozen wastes of the New Town
It's been another freezing cold day in Edinburgh. I wore so many random layers of clothes over my torso on my to walk to the gym this morning that I looked like an extremely rotund bag lady with stick legs. Before I went out, Mr hazelh and I had considered a walk up to Princes Street this afternoon. However, on my return at lunchtime, I declared that I had spent enough time exposed to the cold for one day.
It's just as well that we didn't act on our plans for the trip up to town because it took me the whole afternoon to (a) do my usual tidying up and ensure that Mummy hazelh was well entertained, and (b) cook for supper this evening. For the latter I made a Kerala prawn curry and an Eve's pudding. I also brewed a batch of squash and ginger soup for the freezer.
Paddy and Caitlin were our evening guests. We played two games of Catan, one before our meal and one afterwards. Caitlin won the first and I the second. We were both lucky to be the third person to place our pieces. It's often the case that person number 3 wins the game when there are four players.
On my way to the gym, I photographed the sun rising over the former site of the Royal Bank of Scotland data centre between Royal Crescent/Fettes Row and Eyre Place. (I blipped the half demolished RBS building on 31st December 2021.)
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; pilates class; swim (30 lengths); walking (13,862 steps).
