Built-in crampons

The roads were fine this morning but the drive was even more lethal than yesterday so I wasn’t going anywhere in the car. Even the path we took on our walk was icy because some melting had taken place yesterday and then re-freezing had happened overnight. This didn’t deter Bertie from hopping onto his regular tree stumps to get his expected treat. Fortunately, his built-in crampons prevented him slithering over the edge.
Nick and John successfully felled a couple more sickly trees, perfecting their letterbox technique which they had trialled on Wednesday. Now there is no danger of the trees coming down in storm Bert and causing damage.
