Change

3years 277days

She looks so big walking beside her monkey now. She used to be about as small as him. So much has changed, yet so little too. Walking along clutching her trusted best friend. She told me today she loves him more than Brooke. Which is saying a lot. Looking a big girl in her nursery uniform, now just about the oldest girl in nursery as the school leavers have pretty much left.

I realised today as I was sat talking to her at tea that although she is so very ready academically to be at school- this year is going to be a challenge and require "home schooling" basically- I am absolutely not ready to have her at school. I'm not ready to let go of knowing her days. Even when she's at nursery, her keyworker is great at coming and telling me about her day, each child still gets a daily tracker of what & how much they've eaten. I'm not ready to not know those things. I'm not ready for not having Mummy and Katie snuggles just because we want to. It's hit me big time today. I love that we can disappear off when we choose to and do something fabulous. Being tied to 13 weeks of the year when everyone else does that does not excite me! She is so incredibly excited about school, with 15 months still to go. Turns out, I'm hoping that time slows as much as physically possible!

We woke this morning to discover that the storm last night had flooded the cover of the pool, causing it to collapse and lose most of the water. So Katie found it highly entertaining to dance in the giant puddles that I created as I emptied the rest to start a fresh. She was very pleased to find out I refilled it while she was out, particularly because a new float and play ring for her had arrived. We went into town for a few bits when I picked her up before we came home and she rushed straight into the pool.

This week is Peppa Pig fundraising week (??!!???) at nursery so they've had a week long cake stall. We finally got round to making our contribution tonight and she is looking forward to being sponsored to going to nursery in her pyjamas. Not many months ago she could have done with being sponsored to NOT go to nursery in her jammies!
