Saving Grace

We had all sorts planned for this weekend, but in light of me having to drive and Mike unable to walk much, ended up joining Ermelinda and Cecílio on a visit to our friend, Padre Luís, in Viana do Alentejo, who was celebrating the baptism of Maria Carolina, on her first birthday.

The church was packed with extremely well dressed people, and the music, including "Amazing Grace" on the sax, was good. When the babe eventually exited the church, the saxophonist began to play, and everyone started dancing - to "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay.

Short quote from Capon's ch12, "The Mysterious East" on cooking the Chinese way, where he's warning against an excessive zeal for cleanliness when it comes to woks or cookers:
A sense of proportion is a saving grace.

Indeed.

Extra of our three friends in Padre Luís's garden, where we filled bags with lemons, oranges, persimmons, and aloe vera for Mike's knee.
