Life in Sunny Dubai

Not on Target

(30/10/24)

I was ready to leave with G on time which can sometimes feel like a miracle! I'm so not a morning person!

So, I arrived at the office and quickly noticed many people wearing Indian outfits. "It's Diwali at the end of the week, so something must be happening but why not do it on Wednesday instead of Tuesday," I thought to myself. I soon discovered that a company-wide potluck had been organised as part of our Diversity and Inclusion drive. Diwali just happened to be at the end of the week, so they included that too as there are so many in the office who celebrate it. I knew nothing of it as I am not on the staff circulation list for emails and none of my colleagues thought to inform me.

I came home earlier than normal to finish the work day at my desk. Internal communications need to be improved. I took a shot of some of the decorations in the pantry before I left.

G & I ventured out again to Wafi. I have no idea what happened in the evening, but ALL roads leading to it were chocker blocked. It took over an hour to do a journey that typically takes less than ten minutes. We were ready to eat by the time we got there (having parked the car in Healthcare City and walked). Sadly, the object that we wanted for the birthday gift was no longer on offer, so we needed a Plan B.

For the bits of pink in the bunting, could you please click on this link for BCAM 2024. Thank you.
