Sunny Sunday
One of the most beautiful mornings I have been awake to appreciate, the height of the sun and windless conditions gave way to a world of astonishing colours and warmth.
Wren, Jay, Woodpecker, a clattering of Jackdaws leaving the copse on the top of the hill, a large raptor that I was unable to identify, a plethora of pheasants, a Raven, long tailed tits, Mistle thrush, Robin, Pied wagtails, Wood pigeon, Rooks and a lot of Canada geese being the birds that I can remember seeing or hearing. A nice field mushroom was the only foraged item that I found, on return it went straight into the beef stew I had started making yesterday morning. Dippy posing for the Harrod’s catalog in the extra!
Dippy danced a little jig of joy when he came across his ball on a rope underneath the elm tree which previously confiscated it when I was careless with my aim the other day.
When I got back I realised that I was without my trusty pocket knife, I remembered marking a Hazel which I would return to collect with a more suitable cutting tool. I would look for it later when good friends Alice and Brandon and Dippy’s sister Luna arrived for a stroll and some lunch.
The next few hours disappeared as I prepared lunch and some apple and rhubarb crumbles one with added crystallised ginger.
The sun continued to impress everyone and enhance the natural beauty of everything God created. I suddenly remembered that I had left yesterday‘s catch in the boot of my car a sharp knife to the ready and 10 portions of smooth hound and a small Pollock was ready for bagging up.
My guests arrived and we enjoyed a lovely ramble around a few of the grassy fields and a meander through a small woodland where I had been earlier. Luna and Dippy were in their element and have both matured since they were last together. As we made our way back I was ext fortunate to find the missing knife.
A meal of beef stew and dumplings followed by the crumble and custard suitably made us feel over satisfied and grateful.
Nice conversation and banter and it was suddenly time for my guests to head home.
A huge/gigantic motorhome pulled up next to mine brandspanking new,, it was a couples last purchase of Camper Van which they have been doing for 20 years.
It took them several hours to manoeuvre it into the required pitch in the meantime we had travelled around the similar route to earlier and returned home with the next walking stick project. A light supper with darkness surrounding us it felt later than it was due to the putting back of “the hour”.
Dippy was clean out having enjoyed some sharks liver with his usual supper.
I nodded off at 9 only to be woken by a ping of my phone. A wasn’t having a smooth time after losing her her husband recently and so we chatted until 00:15 on Monday morning with some positivity restored and lots of banter.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
