Sighs….

The bridge of..

Day 2 of our time in Oxford and it was a beautiful autumn day. As most of the college grounds appeared to be closed yesterday, we jumped at the chance of visiting our first one when we saw the sign that it was open, St Edmund Hall.  Some colleges allow you to wander around free whilst others there is a charge.  Different charges too.  Christchurch being the most expensive that we came across at £20 pp.  It does house the city’s cathedral too but after already paying for some entries I couldn’t stretch to another £40.

After our visit to the first college we meandered our way down to the river to see the punts, looking very sorry for themselves tied up, full of water and leaves.  We then bought joint tickets to the botanical gardens and Magdalen College.  The gardens were pretty underwhelming but we stopped for a coffee by the river and watched a chap with a cool contraption removing water from the punts.  Then over the road to Magdalen for a nosy around, their chapel was our least favourite of those that we saw.

We then continued our walk around the town going past Christchurch even if we didn’t go in.  We also visited the shopping centre where we grabbed another drink and some shopping.

After our rather below par supper yesterday, I booked to eat at The Ivy.  Bit of a treat.  We walked past several landmarks on the way back to the bus stop to capture them in the evening light.

Extra collages of our day.

Forgot to mention I had been awake since 3.30 so was pretty shattered when I fell into bed.
