Saint Maud at Live Theatre

This greeted #3 daughter and me when we got to Live Theatre for Saint Maud last night -

“Please note: Contains strobe effects, flame/lighting effects, strong language, nudity, potentially triggering themes of violence, religious fundamentalism, loneliness, mental distress, suicide and murder. If the themes explored in the play are difficult for you personally, there will be an area after the show where some literature will be made available. Age Rating 16+”

Despite the free tickets and free wine on the press and friends night, (thanks to Nathaniel having been in a play there) a play incorporating horror, religious fanaticism and terminal illness didn’t sound promising to me but what a fantastic production it was. I definitely recommend it - and it got 4 stars in the Guardian - brilliant writing, directing, acting, lighting, music. Bravo Live Theatre!

There was no interval so we got back to Gosforth in time to see the children. (Mr C had managed to chivvy them off to bed). It was lovely to see them happy and cheery after their youth theatre group, also at Live Theatre. Tonight they are off to a scout residential weekend at Kielder.

Chris and I had a good catch up and a walk in Blue Mill woods this morning. Her dogs didn’t jump up.

There’s 15% off some Exodus trips booked before the end of the month and I’ve confirmed we’d get our 10% loyalty discount on top of that. There’s one I’m tempted by but it’s long haul so I’d need to justify that with adding on something else. A trip to a travel agent or Trailfinders beckons!
