Supermoon

FRIDAY

The past ten days have been absolutely stellar.

Firstly the stunning aurora display on the night of  10th and 11th October. Then yesterday evening brought the “Comet of the Century” (see yesterday's blip) and now, just moments after midnight, the Hunter’s Moon has made a grand entrance.

The Hunter’s Moon historically signalled to farmers that winter preparation was on the horizon. Its bright reflection provided hunters with the perfect light for late-night stalking ahead of the colder months. Apparently, the earliest use of the term dates  back to 1710.

Last night's/ this morning's moon is also a supermoon being about 7% closer to Earth than normal  making it look a bit bigger and brighter to the naked eye.

Hopefully I will update further later in the day.

Update:

I headed over to East Parade Bowls Club at Rhyl for some "winter bowls" with Paul, John, Larry, George, Carol and Dave. One triples game which we won and a doubles game that we lost. Three hours on the green from 11:00 to 14:00.

Back home and a walk around the village late afternoon.
