Mummy Pheasant

She sat resolutely on her eggs as we trundled within 2-3 feet of her as we walked through a corn field. The corn was about waist height (I'm not very tall) and the footpath through it was extremely narrow so we just couldn't see anything on the ground at all. We tramped out of the corn and into a small clearing where we paused to catch our breath and MrPN spotted her tucked away just to the side of the path. She was a bit nervous as I crept round to get a better shot of her but she didn't budge an inch, bless her, what a good mum she will be. I am really liking the slightly cooler weather, it's so much more comfortable but I know it's not going to last long, more heatwave next week :-(
