A Valedictory Tea Party

What a day it’s been, my last Sunday in Stromness for this year. It was a beautiful sunny day, one of those autumn days that arrive reminding you of high summer.

There was the regulation sea swim at 10am and a morning sitting at the window in the sun trying to crochet the remains of wool that is going south in a parcel tomorrow.

In the afternoon the Edinburgh visiting Selkie had arranged a valedictory tea party for me in her house. The French window was open and people could sit indoors or out in the garden nursing their Prosecco or since a lot of them were driving, their Nosecco. The table was laden with savouries and I was gobsmacked when I saw the cake. These girls are the best and the Edinburgh visiting Selkie is so kind. It was a lovely gathering and enjoyed myself so much that I stayed until I was practically being offered a bed for the night. I hope I didn’t overstay my welcome but I was having such a lovely time.

Thank you WendyS and thank you Selkies, all of you, for being such a large part of my life this year- almost 3 months in total.
