Rolvenden
A treat for you today, a view of all that you need to see and know about Rolvenden signalbox. And for those of you who like an engine, there’s one in extras 76017 standard class 2 being prepped for tonight’s Pullman dining train.
Today was my first turn flying solo for the day. I had a single train evening shift a couple of weeks ago. This was a day for real. It all went well, even down to a bit of shuffling around at the end. However, this late entertainment distracted me leading to me leaving my flask in the fridge!
All the red levers control signals, tall handles are mechanical, short handles are motorised signals. Black levers move points and blue levers lock mechanical points into position. Brown levers work sidings and white levers are redundant.
Above the levers is the block shelf containing all the instruments telling us what’s happening to signals, points and track we can’t see. Above that is the track diagram for the lines controlled by this box. There’s a fan and a megaphone, oh! and an old CRT TV. Finally to the far right are the two token machines that control access to the single line either side of the station.
Good to have that first day over without any issues. Going to enjoy the evening now!
