I've been feeling the absence of cold water immersion, and this evening I put that right. There was a fairly small 6.30pm meet at the beach, and the wave jumping (see first extra for indications of wave height) was excellent. I got bowled over on numerous occasions, and I was happy I was wearing both a hat (which got wet) and ear plugs, which saved my ears.
Various works have been undertaken at the beach. Potholes in the car park and roadway have been filled in. The concrete walkway down to the beach has been cleared of stones. And the stones have been piled up underneath the edge of the car park, protecting the car park and shoreline against erosion. You can see some of that in the second extra.
During the rest of the day, I mostly did some editing of a draft chapter in an edited book, which was apparently criticised by one of the reviewers of the book as not being well connected to the themes of the book. I did make some changes, but I more or less came to the conclusion that the reviewer had not actually read my chapter, in particular my conclusion. Anyway, I hammered home the points that connect the chapter to the wider book in a not too subtle way, so that will have to do.
Now I'm cuddled up with a furry hot water bottle, to make sure I don't suffer any ill effects from the cold water immersion.
