In the sea

Back to the sea this morning, with L on chauffeuring duties. I will reciprocate tomorrow. The waves were not as big as yesterday, but the light was amazing, so I ventured a little way into the sea with my phone in a waterproof pocket, to get a few pictures, which I've collaged up. Once out beyond the not terribly substantial waves, it was a lovely flat sea to swim in. Gone was the choppiness that marked so many of our pre-Kessock swims. I headed up to the green door and back. It was crispy, but because I used my yulex suit yesterday and it wasn't dry, I went in wearing just a swimming costume (+hat, gloves and socks). I love that feeling of freedom, but I wouldn't want to contend with really big waves wearing just a swimming costume. Somehow, wearing a yulex suit makes you feel more protected, when the waves are big.

On return home, we went to Piper's for coffee and a bacon roll, where we met someone I know slightly through swimming (D), who regaled of his tales of being on a Cunard liner earlier this year, supporting the Japanese guests. Interesting man. And before going swimming, I put in a short shift in the garden, weeding the upper level and planting out some allium bulbs which we took out of the back bed. Tomorrow, I want to plant out some narcissi and other bulbs I rescued from the various tubs we emptied on the balcony a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, I've snivelled and snurked my way through the day. It seems like only a few days since I last had a cold (in July). But this time, I don't feel at all bad. I'm not weary and so far (touch wood), this head cold is nowhere near my chest.

Later on, I prepared a tasty bolognese including fresh herbs from the garden which will also do, potentially, as a meal on Monday before I leave to go back to Edinburgh. And now, as the man says, alcohol has been taken. Time to lean in to that (and read a book).
