Church Square lies in the pedestrianised part of Bedford town centre. It's named for a family named Church, and not for any religious establishment, which comes as a blessed relief given that almost everything here is named after one or another of our numerous local religious sects or outposts.
But absolutely everyone calls this Pigeon Square, which is the gist of this inscription around a tree. Pigeons had been in view as I lined my camera up for the shot but then the entire flock went for a flamboyantly assertive swoopy circuit around the square. Next time I'll try to get a pigeon standing on the word pigeon. Interesting that nobody ever refers to London's Trafalgar Square as Pigeon Square.
Bone density scan results couldn't have been worse. It seems I have Stage 4 osteoporosis, which means that my skeleton now resembles that RAAC, but without the reinforcement. An interesting new challenge.
