I waited several months for a proper audiology appointment at the local hospital Ear, Nose & Throat Dept, and chose not to cancel it when the blockage in my ear cleared up all by itself, just in case it came back again before the appointment. They weren't cross with me for that and were able to reassure me that there is very little wrong with my hearing. So I gave the packets and packets of hearing aid batteries I'd been given by Specsavers to the NHS and returned the hearing aids themselves to Specsavers.
While I was at the hospital I discovered the location of their Accommodation Manager, whom I hope I will be getting in touch with just as soon as I am in a position to let a vacant flat.
I also checked to see how much longer I'd have to wait for the results of the bone densitcy scan I had 8 or 9 weeks ago, and it seems my results went out in the post today – hurrah!
After all that I bumped into a delightful young buddhist monk who was collecting money to provide hot vegan meals to the rough sleepers in the town centre, so I gave him what I could. He was disappointed that I wouldn't take a book about spiritual guidance from him but we parted on good terms nevertheless.
This is yet another display of local art adorning the window of a vacant shop in the town centre.
