Food for free! Some of the hedges are revealing their autumn bounty of elderberries, crab apples and brambles. Most of the brambles are past their best although today I found some good ones within three minutes walk from home together with huge bunches of elderberries. Sunday’s collection of elderberries have been made into jelly and now today’s collection have been cooked and are slowly dripping through muslin for tomorrows production of jam and elderberry rob for winter colds. As the crab apples were very small a couple of eating apples were used instead.
