Safety Suit
Tony and I walked down into Oxford early this morning and once more took part in the Parkrun in University Parks. I always find it hard work but I got around and we headed to Gails for breakfast which turned out to be a disappointment. I ordered several things including their yummy porridge for me and the guy told me they were making a new batch and it would be five minutes, no problem. After fifteen minutes I asked if it was ready and a second guy offhandedly told me it would be five minutes. After half an hour we left and I said to cancel the order because we needed to leave, only to be told the fresh pot was sitting there, grrr!
So porridgeless we went for the bus. Euan and his Mum were busy building the Lego Streetcar which was his early birthday present. When he opened it yesterday he said, 'Actually I'm not into Lego any more!' which made us all laugh, but he seems to be back into it today. Mum Becky has an unpleasant procedure to undergo tomorrow and an unpleasant prep for it, so is limited in what she can eat. We had managed to find something at Gails and Euan had a pain au chocolat, the evidence of which is on his face in my blip.
When he tired of the Lego, we turned to the play dough as the weather outside was not pleasant and he was a little off colour. There was a steady stream of consciousness as we created oceans and fields and crazy hair man and an erupting volcano and lots of fishes and predator seagulls and a water snail whose head fell off. I was okay to handle the lava flow as Euan informed me I was protected by an invisible safety suit. Oh to have that imagination back again. It's funny how the smell of play dough takes me right back to my own childhood days.
Mid afternoon Euan's Dad returned home from his business trip and there was much hugging and telling of stories and requests for Dad to play. Later we four walked to the park for much swinging followed by dinner at Craft, to avoid cooking smells in the house when Mum was abstaining. A welcome decision for all I think.
