What a difference...

...a day (and a tide) makes. D had headed off to open up the abbey, clean the toilets, etc. I was listening to a low throbbing hum for ages before this monster appeared - the Estrella, a crude oil tanker, on its way to fill up at Hound Point. You can see the south bay at this very low tide more clearly in the 1st extra. Although the weather never cleared I went for a walk up the west end of the island (not possible during gull breeding season!), and was intrigued by the stone walling at the end of this mound - 2nd extra. D remembered that this was actually where the hogback gravestone had been excavated, back in the day - thought it had burial vibes!

I left on the Maid at 13:00 - the vista of the abbey (with D's wee hoose on the far left and the tiny figure of Canon Mark starting his guided tour by the flagpole on the far right) is very indistinct because I was taking through the Maid's understandably salt-sprayed window! (3rd extra).
