Right Down to the Wire

In the first football game of the season, Merrick and his Linden Eagles were up against the Clio Mustangs. A bird vs. a horse.

We fell behind in the first half 18-0, with the same little #7 scoring all 3 of their touchdowns. Yikes, I was worried.

But, in the 2nd half, our Eagles came roaring back. 18-6, then 18-12. We made a defensive stop in the 4th quarter, and got the ball back with 4 minutes and 16 seconds left...on their 48 yard line.

We marched down to the 5 yard line, but the seconds were slipping away. It came down to the last play, 4th down and goal at the 5 yard line.

I would love to report that we threw a swing pass, and our receiver fought his way into the end zone, but it didn't happen. They flooded our backfield and sacked our quarterback. Game over...18-12.

We softened the blow of the loss by taking Merrick and my daughter out to Shaquille Oneal's (A retired basketball player) new fast food chicken place...Big Chicken. It was real good, but not great.
