Kingfisher success
This morning we had a couple of hours at WWT Martin Mere in the sunshine.
We spent about 90 minutes in the Ron Barker hide as this is where most of the action has been the past few weeks with bitterns, hobbys, harriers, hares, a stoat and at least one kingfisher. Unfortunatley, I think the wildlife didn't get the memo as apart from one visit from this male kingfisher who dived 4 times into the ditch, with 50% success. All in the space of about 3 minutes, then he flew off and didn't return whilst we were there.
We did however get shown the White Fronted Goose(extra) that turned up yesterday on the Mere - it was very difficult to find, and we had help. Once it was located, we went around the side of the mere for much better views before it decided to have a nap too :)
Back home, picked niece up from her most recent travels to Sicily and London and now off to Mum's for the evening.
