not so spreading Chestnut Tree

A couple of months ago I blipped our lovely Chestnut tree which had been saved from tree fellers.

Today there are two fellers, who are reducing its height by about half. 

This is, apparently, a compromise between the insurance company of one of the nearby houses, who wanted it removed altogether and the wishes of local residents who wanted it saved.

It will never look as magnificent as it once did (see extra; an IR version I did in 2022).  But if we still get a few conkers from it, I guess that will have to do.
