Meeting.

We successfully pulled off a meeting with 60+ participants from northern Mozambique, regarding the direction of and priorities for the very large landscape that stretches into southern Tanzania. It’s an under-recognised shared landscape which supports vast tracts of miombo woodland and large numbers of well-known African wildlife species. Most importantly, many of the several million people who live in it have a strong dependency on natural resources for their daily lives, and they need to be front and centre of efforts to develop the landscape sustainably in a way that generates more livelihoods options and ways of monetising natural assets.

My role these days is often about sidling up to governments and promoting ownership of meetings such as this, even though they are funded through external sources via us. Today felt like a milestone meeting that we’ve been trying to get traction on for a long time and the momentum underpinning our collective work is well and truly gaining.

Here are some meeting participants engrossed in discussion.
