Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

JR went off with her gym pal in the afternoon to the Gyle Shopping Centre, which is away out of town, but now easily reached by tram. She was having a routine eye check, but I think a bit of shopping was also planned.

Archie and I went Braidburn Valley Park - haven’t been there for ages. I had my jumper, puffer jacket, scarf and hat on - basically, what I wear in winter… But it did turn out quite warm!

There’s a very nice shot through the trees, looking into the sun, that I always like to line up. But there is now a whopping great climbing frame and huge stainless steel shiny slide spoiling the view!! NOT pleased.

While we walked, I listened to an ABC ‘Conversations’ episode with Colum McCann. He wrote ‘American Mother’ in collaboration with Diane Brown. She was the mother of James Foley, who was kidnapped by ISIS in Syria in 2012, held captive for two years before being publicly beheaded by the four English speaking ISIS members, known as The Beatles’. Diane actually MET with one of her son’s killers. Amazing woman.

Episode Two of Slow Horses has ‘dropped’. today. SO annoying that we can’t just binge on it. AND I hope they all the episodes drop before our AppleTV free trial ends!

JR did not come home in time for Archie’s second walk, so I’ve just been out again on a beautiful evening. Looking longingly at all those lucky flats that get glorious afternoon/evening sunshine in their living rooms. It’s a BIG advantage. (8,869 steps)
