Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

YES! The fire is on!

A nice calm sunny day! Archie and I went out for a walk, and in the afternoon, JR took him out a big walk. To the vet. Again. It was a 'follow up' to see if the pills he'd been using had done any good. They had. But now they've been stopped for a couple of days, and he was scratching around, a bit unsettled for the past two nights... OH NO - does this mean he needs to keep going on the pills for a while longer? For ever?

I ascertained that it was a 'follow up' visit ie, requested by the vet to check up how the treatment was working, and probably to stop, or get more pills. I understood that a 'follow up' visit, requested by the vet, was free - we've had quite a few of them of late, what with his teeth and his operation and his spray... But this one wasn't. £48 please (and that was the discount rate). And MORE pills. AND a prescription (£21) to get the pills at half the price online. NOT happy. Going to look at changing vets. Abi changed ages ago because she was unhappy with the sometimes ridiculous charges.

Poor wee Archie - not his fault. But it looks like he may need the pills for quite a long time - Autumn is apparently a bad time for doggie allergies.

I cut the grass while the others were out, hopefully for the last time. Hazel came over for some drinkies and nibbles and a de-brief of her rather super holiday, despite a day of torrential rain.

Off to visit a different (local) vet tomorrow!
