Waiting on a jet plane
... as opposed to leaving.
Our 4.30 flight to Madrid is being held up for 30 minutes or so because of a bout of stormy weather at Heathrow. I've done the Quick Crossword already so thought I would chronicle the delay as today's blip. I may add an extra - and some more commentary - when we get to Madrid. Meanwhile I'll channel my inner John Denver.
We eventually took off about an hour late and arrived at Madrid Airport around 8.55pm local time. We had pre-booked a taxi for 8.30pm but happily that was still provided, albeit with a change of driver and it took a while for him to arrive once we'd emerged into the arrivals hall with our baggage. The extras are of the airport roof en route to the arrivals passport desks and musicians in traditional costumes waiting to greet someone in the arrivals hall (but not us!). The ride to the hotel, and check-in, were uneventful. It's a "boutique" hotel and our rooms are certainly not generously endowed with space. But after a tiresome journey I can't say I'm that bothered. And the WiFi's good so I have been able to listen to this evening's edition of The Archers!
