Watching & waiting
A day of worrying about Dad. My parents have been away for a long weekend in Jersey - their first holiday since dad's operation earlier in the year and we hoped one that would do them the power of good & all that.
So last night Mum called to say that Dad had been ill on Saturday night and taken into the hospital at St.Helier on Sunday morning. Well there's nothing like being kept up to date is there?! The hospital were doing all sorts of tests and couldn't say when he may be fit for travelling home, something underlined when Mum called the hospital this morning, their day of departure.
In a stroke of lucky circumstance their B&B told Mum that she could stay however long she needed to but she would have to change rooms, hence Mum packing their suitcase ready. When visiting Dad in the afternoon he felt somewhat better and whilst not advising them to fly, (nudge nudge wink wink) the doctor said he could be discharged and once de-cannulated they had just enough time to jump in a taxi, collect their luggage from the B&B and get to.the airport.
I met them at our local airport and brought them home. Dad looked shattered, Mum looked stressed and Peggy looked pleased to see them both. He needs to see his GP over here I think but at least they are back in one piece!
