Pushing The Selfie Button

Today's image was a complete experiment set up almost entirely my brother. As I have mentioned in previous blips I'm almost a complete ignoramus when it comes to the technical aspects of photography and I rely mostly on instinct, dumb luck and perhaps a smidgen of aptitude for framing an image for most of my shots.
So here comes the technical bit commendably and slowly (purely for my benefit) explained to me by my brother to his somewhat clueless pupil - the tripod based camera was set on continuous auto-focus with the self-timer on a two second delay from pressing the shutter so that I could get into position, experiment with the length of the exposure and then use some rear curtain flash to illuminate the result whilst posing rather uncomfortably in our garage (it was the only location that was dark enough) waving around my mobile phone on its torch setting. Even then I managed to get this wrong by initially pointing my phone towards my face instead of at the camera! Phone reversed, and after several failed attempts, this was the eventual result - so basically to get this selfie the entirety of my contribution was some arm based gesticulation and pushing the button! :-)
