Diary of an Edinburgher

What a boy!

This morning I took a walk round past a wee cafe we’ve been meaning to go to for months - Mara’s Picklery. I’ve seen meals on SM, and they look good - it’s not just pickles!

So, we duly arrived for a light lunch. And very nice it was too. Two sharing plates, then coffees and a large chocolate brownie each. The two owners met in New Zealand, and as she is Scottish, when they couldn’t get back to NZ because of COVID, and re-entry visas ran out, they came here. Also, it’s nearer for his family - he’s Indian. All good.

From there we wandered down the road, collecting Archie on the way, and popped in to Toast for a small glass of wine. We did sit outside in the sun for a while, but it was too breezy. Besides, they always have a good playlist. JR took Archie a long walk from there.

Archie slept well last night! We’re keeping well away from the beeping air fryer when he has his tea - usually he likes to hang around with the smells of food and the sounds of chopping carrots etc. But now he’s very wary - he doesn’t rush in for his tea, but stands nervously at the door, ready to run and hide. What a boy!!

Finished Season 3 of Slow Horses. If you don’t like too much swearing and violence - don’t watch this. I must say, the non-stop wisecracking and cheery banter from the heroes as they were being shot at or beaten up got a bit tedious. But we will watch Season 4 when it comes on in September. Back to second half of The Twelve - not much swearing or violence… Well, just one murder. Or was it…
