Transient

This was the view from my bed this morning. It was 5:30 am although I had read my watch incorrectly and thought it was 6:30. I got back under the duvet and watched  as the sun rose and filled the bedroom with sunshine. By the time we reached the slip, for our swim, the sunshine had gone and by 11am the rain arrived. After that , it was  a day of sunshine and showers with an overall pervading mistiness.

I had a Selkie in for coffee and küchen this afternoon. She is a ‘sooth moother’ or a ‘ferry louper’ like me but has put down roots in Stromness by buying a house . I was telling her I had just read ‘Swimming with Seals ‘ by Victoria Wentworth who opined that you couldn’t be considered an Orcadian unless you had 7 generations of your family in the graveyard. Of course neither of us had any family members in the graveyard but that didn’t stop us from feeling part of the community.
