Culture!
Archie and I popped to the greengrocer this morning to check on the pea situation. There are still a couple of boxes, but they have to be selected carefully - some of them are past their full bloom of sweetness, and so - can be resisted.
Elizabeth took Archie out today instead of her usual Saturday. The rain had swept through overnight and the day dawned sunny and stayed that way.
Now that we are ‘Friends of the Galleries’ we wanted to go and see the exhibitions on offer. We haven’t been to Modern One and Modern Two for ages. We used to go quite often, as the lunch at Modern One is excellent, and there’s lovely outdoor seating. Fabulous choice of delicious salads, with a couple of main course options. Of course, we had lunch first!
We had a look round the current exhibition. Do Ho Suh’s obsession with ‘home’ fills the whole exhibition space. And his work is great. He did a lot of huge works, using threads! (Extras)
I loved this bit:
‘The artist understands breathing and drawing as closely connected, involving the removal of ego to embrace a humbler way of working…’
So true!
I walked up to the top of the grassy knoll. Which reminds me - we must go to Jupiter Artland before winter!
From there we popped over the road to Modern Two, where the exhibition was ‘Women in Revolt’ a history of women’s Liberation from the 70s. Very interesting, and SO much to see. Some terrific exhibits.
When we came back I peeled and chopped 1.5kg of the apples that I collected from the apple trees in the garden yesterday. JR is making apple chutney again. And hopefully - an apple crumble!
