Between fen and mountains

Quiet waters

I felt much better this morning so I went to play some tennis. I was supposed to go to the ringing summer school and had been asked to take another Covid self test despite it being seven days since symptoms appeared and the doctor assuring me that it would be fine to attend. I think the current NHS guidance is to stay away from people for 3 to 5 days. However, I did as the ringers requested and discovered that the test was still just positive. I did offer to wear a mask but this was not sufficiently reassuring. The afternoon was a little stressful as I received a letter that had taken two weeks to arrive saying that my pension was to be stopped if I did not fill out a form to confirm my current details. After 45 minutes waiting on the phone, it transpired that two previous letters had not arrived and that the final reminder has taken two weeks but the response was required within seven working days. They said they do not send emails because of data protection regulations but that seems ridiculous as HMRC and banks send out reminders. The customer services person said that my pension has already been stopped so I spent the rest of the afternoon getting the form signed, witnessed, scanned and sent. I don’t know if it will be processed in time for my pension to be unlocked next month.
