Between fen and mountains

Misleading

The sign for the street I used to live in is misleading. A ‘degré’ is the old French for a step. It says there are 60 steps but in fact they have been changed over the years, probably a long time ago. I went for my long awaited doctors appointment this morning. Although my appointment was 9.15, she was already an hour behind so it was a long wait. There is nothing unusual in that! I updated her on the various tests I had since I last saw her, told her I was recovering from Covid and then addressed the main issue, slight, intermittent knee pain when hiking. it is something I have lived with for a few years and it is probably just wear and tear. I expected her to tell me to come back when it gets worse. It may take weeks to get a doctors appointment in this medical desert, but once you are referred on, things are much better. She immediately gave me prescriptions for both a scan and an MRI which I will have in about a fortnight. I was pleasantly surprised at the short wait. Otherwise, it has been another day resting up. I’m getting a bit frustrated at the Covid symptoms seeming to mutate a little each day and the slow recovery. I must learn to be more patient! In the afternoon, the dishwasher that has been away for repair for a month, was finally returned. Despite the government €50 subsidy to encourage repairs rather than repurchase, the final bill was around the cost of a cheap new machine. However, it is a Bosch so probably worth repairing.
