Meadowbank
This morning I walked Django and did a bit of work before getting a bus into Edinburgh, where Edinburgh City were playing Bonnyrigg Rose at the Meadowbank Stadium. I feel that some of my difficulties with sleep at the moment are due to not getting enough exercise, so I walked across Holyrood Park to the ground.
The teams were tied on 0 points at the bottom of League Two, and the game was entertaining. Bonnyrigg dominated the first quarter and scored, but then it all unravelled, with Edinburgh getting two goals either side of a red card against Bonnyrigg. Then, in the last quarter, Bonnyrigg went on the offensive, scored one and almost won it at the death. It was good to be in the away support, although the ground isn't the best, since there's an eight-lane athletics track between the stand and the pitch. Now the bottom four in League Two all have 1 point. It's going to be a long season...
Afterwards I had a long walk back into and through the centre of Edinburgh, going up Easter Road (see extra) - are there many cities with views of such rock architecture on an ordinary street? I called in on daughter K, and then walked over Calton Hill, where the classic view (see extra) was being admired by many, despite the dull weather.
I ended up at Summerhall, coordinating almost perfectly with A's arrival. We had food at a more than decent Turkish restaurant, but afterwards we weren't inspired by the shows at Summerhall, and the next circus performance in the Meadows was sold out. So, we took a bus back home.
