Oxford.4
On my way back from breakfast, I spotted that Christ Church chapel was open, so I took the opportunity to have a look around. Despite being a the cathedral for the Anglican diocese of Oxford, it's not as grand as New College's chapel, but still a very pleasing place to be.
The conference finished at lunchtime, after an excellent plenary by one of the superstars of Numerical Analysis, followed by a short, reflective talk and words of thanks from the person in whose honour the conference was taking place. I had time to say goodbye to old friends and new acquaintances, but Y had to dash off to catch a train to London. I still have to steer her through the final week of her internship, but I'll see her again in October. Earlier she had taken a photo of me with my sparse friend J - see extra.
Then I made my way towards the railway station, stopping off for a lamb biriyani to fuel myself for the journey back. Fortunately Avanti is having a good day, and I should arrive on time in Edinburgh.
