Around the Block

18,000 and counting . . .

The overcast, rain-spitting morning encouraged us to walk along to the port of Blanes, after breakfast, which we have never explored properly. We were in full shade-seeking mode by the time we got there but still enjoyed the bright dazzle of the place and its many new-to-us restaurant spots . . . see last extra.

Lunch was at The Shack before a break in our room and a taxi at 6.30pm to the Marimurtra Botanical Gardens to fulfil our annual pilgrimage. This time we booked a sunset guided tour restricted to just twenty people to avoid the sun’s blast which we’ve experienced in the last two years.

The tour was in Catalan and the lady guide, Sylvia, a demonstrative enthusiastic speaker’ whose clear pronunciation and gestures helped us to get 90% of it!

Sylvia took us into parts normally closed to the public and we are now much more knowledgeable on many plant matters, including how bamboo grows, flowers and dies!

The sun does not set out at sea but its last rays, from inland, did magically light up the rocks to round off a lovely experience far from the sun’s rays.

We began our walk back and suddenly realised our step count was 18,000 and counting!

A couple of more collages in extras.

And here’s a link for our record to an earlier daytime visit . . . https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3140073747147391032
