Beach picnic
The hottest day of the year. I worked at home mainly in the house as the barn office over heats a bit. I did a big catch up with our BBC commissioner who is back from holiday and we signed off trails and various things with her.
We decided to go over to Selsey for an evening picnic, Vik had been up in London for a lunch but I picked him up and we drove over. It is a lovely wild beach between Chichester and Bognor managed by the RSPB with very limited parking. Judging by the queues back from Wittering things had got very busy there, and although it’s a huge beach it must have felt crowded.
At Selsey the shingle beach had, by 5pm, only three or four groups on it and only a few people in the sea. It was high tide so it was deep but a breeze got up and I didn’t fancy swimming. We ate wraps I’d made at lunchtime and drank beer and cider. Finished off with a handful of cherries.
Home in daylight and watched the end of Wicked Little Letters because I wanted to see if it got better. It sort of did.
