Out and about
Today N and I went to Stanhope and round about. We had a super time, lots to see, a picnic, and a wonderful walk out in the wilds. There were lime kilns, old lead mining remains, long disused railway lines, a river sparkling in the sunshine. We followed the Weardale Mineral Walk, the topography was amazing, and having the occasional information board was really interesting.
We saw lots of wild flowers, many that aren't common in Orkney but between us we knew them all. Trees proved a bit more difficult, but it was fun trying to put names to them.
It wasn't all sunshine, there were some wonderful skyscapes as black clouds came over, but we never got rained on, just a few drops. A great day and such a happy and very enjoyable one with N.
