Day 11 - Dragonfly Distance Racing
It was back to the pond today for the Dragonfly Distance Racing. Here you can see Bob, a completely exhausted Black Tailed Skimmer, who flew last in the 2,000m time trial (dragonflies can't be trusted to race alongside each other). Bob knew the time he had to beat and left it all out on the course, collapsing as he arrived at the finish platform. And the time has just appeared on the scoreboard and he's won gold, beating Colin the Common Darter by a mere 0.75 seconds. Colin is completely devastated as he flew first and led until the final second of the competition.
A nice sunny morning, so after doing the washing and hanging it out on the line, I walked into town for a few things. I also had a look around day 1 of the Bakers & Larners sale, but there was nothing I wanted. Back home I sat out for half an hour before the cloud came over and the wind got up. This afternoon I mowed the lawn and applied a treatment expecting rain. None arrived, so I had to water it in. I did the ironing whilst watching the Olympics. I really enjoyed the Kite Surfing where we won gold, and also have been enjoying the Heptathlon. It's so windy this evening. The site of my bee sting yesterday is soooooooo itchy, but I'm ignoring it!
