Roman Britain

Cycled down to Hadrian's Wall and past Vindolanda today with C (the stone wall in the foreground of today's blip is not Hadrian's Wall!).  Vindolanda is a Roman fort, not on the Wall itself but a kilometre south of it and built before the Wall. It was occupied between 85AD to 370AD. I visited it many years ago and it's well worth a visit, but we didn't have time to stop as C wanted to get to Hexham. The extra is Vindolanda from the road above it.
