Although my day at the conference began early with an excellent 08:30 talk by a guy from a Japanese company who pay me as a consultant, there were fewer talks worth attending. However, this meant that I spent more time talking with people. One meeting was a very positive online chat with someone who was keen to help HiGHS join NumFOCUS, a "Nonprofit Supporting Open Code for Better Science". Another was lunch with a developer of a solver that we've incorporated into HiGHS. After two good talks to end the day, I went off with И and our developer F to join friend S and his former boss in a rather nice bar in the heart of downtown Montréal. The chat, beer and food were good, and not spoiled by the incredibly heavy rain beating down on the shelter in the yard where we were sitting.
