ISMP.1

Today I was speaking in the first session, so had to be at the conference centre before 08:30. It was a fair conference morning: my talk went well and I learned something from some of the others. 

И and I then had an online meeting in preparation for a webinar next week in which we will be interviewed by the CEO of a cool company that is a good user of HiGHS. For lunch we joined two Japanese collaborators at a simple sushi restaurant - and they had their first experience of poke bowls! 

I then went back to my B&B to collect a tee shirt for this evening, charge my phone, and chat to A. In the afternoon session, I learned that (as I'd feared) some work I'd hoped my new PhD student would work on has already been done. Fortunately we have other plans. After a disappointing talk from one of the commercial optimization companies, I stayed on to listen to a keynote talk on an area about which I feel I should know more. Unfortunately it was far to hard to follow, so I handled some email and composed my Blip entry!
