Playing life by ear.

Back in the marina.

After 45 years of fairly regular sailing, there is always something to learn, but why do we still make silly mistakes?
First sail of the year for me and something always goes wrong on the first sail.
S hooked up the heavy Genoa sail and once out of the marina, winched it up. It got stuck and was flailing around like nothing I have ever seen.
Something is wrong, he said.
Yes, I said, it is upside down.
Pulling it down was an effort as the wind was quite strong and the sail was ballooning at the top of the mast and I, on the helm, found it difficult to hold the boat in the right direction.
Once down, I turned the sail round, hooked it up correctly and off we went again. I had wanted to take a sailing blip today. Next time.
At home we watched a tennis match between drop dead gorgeous Berettini* and a chubby Russian, Kotov, who repeatedly threw his racket on the ground.

A few years ago he had reached number 6 in world ranking, but was stopped in his tracks by a series of injuries and is slowly climbing back up.
I am exited to see Kamala Harris off to a good start.
Baldrick is adjusting to being an only dog. He eats slowly and no longer pees on the walls. He was so used to being ruled and regulated by Grace, that he is lost without her.
This time I have no regrets. We did what needed to be done at the right time and I stayed with her till the very end.
At aroung 06.00pm, a yellow helicopter flew over us and landed in a field in front of our home. Some paramedics went down to the beach while the pilots waited in a shaded spot beside some bushes. I have no idea what happened there.
We had the usual evening swim and, pretending we were on holiday, had a meal down in the town square. Seafood risotto, fried anchovies and salad.
Nice to have a chat with our host, boffin, friend with a good meal thrown in.
