A Slice of Life

Just as I settled down on the patio to declaim about the magic of hot sunshine on a deprived northern body, the sun disappeared and my phone weather forecast tells me that it may be gone for the rest of the day. We’ve obviously had our daily ration of summer for the meantime, but it was lovely while it lasted- almost too hot for comfort but I’m not complaining.

I was out and about earlier, principally to post a birthday card and take out a mortgage to buy a book of stamps but am now awaiting the arrival of Glasgow daughter and Nina through in Edinburgh for a spot of retail therapy.

Meanwhile I’m being entertained by a crow family with an annoying adolescent offspring demanding noisily and incessantly for his parents to feed him. The parent has remarkable tolerance. I wonder what it does when it loses patience and the plot- a hard peck on the bottom perhaps?

PS The sun has reappeared- I was too hasty with my pronouncement.
