Alp Grüm

We took the train to Alp Grum today and wandered up to the Belvedere Hotel which is located at around 2189m above sea level. It was truly stunning, we saw a golden eagle soaring lazily above us and the meadows were lush with alpine flowers. All accompanied by the faint but distinctive sound of cow bells. There was even a helicopter which landed and four workmen got out and went for lunch. As we sat, me with a beer and the kids with ice cream we amused to think that we were hundreds of metres above the summit of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak. And it was warm and sunny and there was ice cream!
