Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

JR took both boys out for a longer walk this morning before going to the gym. About 8am, I left the boys in the house to go to the physio. But it turns out she wasn’t a physio, she told me, but had some other medical title, which I’ve forgotten.

However, she checked my arm movements (lack of) and declared it was something, which I didn’t catch, but basically it’s some strained muscles. However, she suggested having an X-ray to check.

Later we all took a walk across the Meadows to check out the new restaurant I discovered yesterday. It’s part of the massive refurbishment of the old city hospital, which has been going on for years. And what a superb job has been done!

We had a lovely wee table by one of the huge old windows. The menu is great. There was loud music at the entrance to all the venues, but none in the actual restaurant, which is a big bonus. We both enjoyed our breakfast/brunch choices.

Then we had a walk round the whole Quartermile, most of which had been completed quite a while ago. As we walked back across the Meadows it was positively muggy, but with big dark clouds brewing.

In the afternoon I watched a bit of cricket, but mainly snoozed. No wonder - 8,959 steps!

But as a contrast, JR also did those steps, after having walked to two gym sessions, then in the afternoon baked a cake, did the ironing, roasted veges for tea, washed Archie’s beard and feet, took one dog out again (Pip did not want to go!), then fed both dogs. Superwoman!!

PS: She’s just denied being a ‘Superwoman’, saying it’s just what most people (women) do…
