Look into my beady eye

Another lovely day out with neatwithice and W, culminating in a fish supper at Kilmore Quay, which had been enjoying a gala / festival weekend, so was quite busy. Some of the working fishing boats are in the first extra.

Most of the day, however, was spent at Johnstown Castle, where we enjoyed pottering around the gardens, looking at the wildlife (there was a heron keeping a beady eye on the lake and an otter fishing in the lake) or not so wild life (see second extra for a full display). Afterwards, we listened to Caroline's band playing light tunes for a Sunday afternoon. All exceedingly pleasant, and there was a decent audience for the concert.

I particularly enjoyed the plantings in the walled gardens, not least because they already had quite a few the plants of which we had one or two specimens. I loved the sea of colourful achillea (see third extra).

Meanwhile, despite a misty start, the weather has basically held up, and in fact it was really quite warm at various points during the day when the sun was out.
