Monarch Of The Glen

I haven't seen many monarch butterflies this year and those few I have seen have been flying fast and furious. So, I was surprised when this one landed not a few feet away on a swamp milkweed, with it's wings spread.

I got quite a few shots, but it was surprisingly difficult to get all the butterfly in focus. I tried my best to get parallel with the plane of focus covering the insect.
