The cheery shop frontage of Digger in West Nicolson Street is so outrageously colourful in a city of grey stone buildings that it makes me smile every time I pass it. The shop has been a constant in the area for almost 50 years since my older daughters were teenagers and into making things with beads and frippery. We need colour in our lives as yet another day which dawned sunny has deteriorated somewhat to the point of greyness again.
I am getting all my activity today vicariously, watching the men’s singles final at Wimbledon, the Tour Highlights later and then the Football in the evening. The excitement is palpable in the tennis as Alcaraz is 2 sets up over Djokovic. Surely Djokovic can’t lose, can he? I might need to resort to drink.
