The Bull on Wall Street
Up again at 8am … meet at the lovely diner across the road … Jim delivers his ‘stop that and listen ‘ talk to the kids .
1.Off to the New York public library, Ollie keen to see around it as it was used in the Ghostbusters film, we spent ages there taking photos. Also the boys found two sculptures of ladies with bare boobs … much excitement and laughter.
2.Walk to Grand Central Station…. They loved it , all the eateries downstairs plus the space and the amazing fact you can stand in one corner of the concave section and talk directly in to the wall and the person in the other corner can hear you and then reply , you look a bit daft facing in to the corner talking to your self but it’s most fun , we used to do it with our children. You have to be in the diagonal corners though. The children posed with some of the army and were mesmerised by the weapons they carried .
3.On the subway then to Wall Street to see the famous bull … I did say I can pop in to Birmingham anytime to see our own Bull but obviously this is slightly more exciting ;-)) … so listen to this for weird … people queue around the back of the bull to have their photo taken touching the bulls balls .. yes … his testicles … is it for luck I wonder … even Ollie and Joe didn’t fancy that … after we watched a load of weirdos crouch under the bronze bull we left for…..
4.Battery Park … Joe assumed it was where the battery was invented. Played there for a while whilst we waited for the ferry to Liberty Island as Jim purchased tickets 3 months ago for us all to go up inside the statue and look out of the crown . 196 steps to the base of her dress and then another very steep climb right up into her brain as Joe said . Great experience but not for anyone who is claustrophobic or with mobility issues. We stayed on the island for lunch and all the obligatory photos . It was 3..45 by now and Emily was getting exhausted so we took the ferry back to Battery park .
5. Subway to Grand Central and then from there swapped to the shuttle to Times Square. Jim and I took Ollie to a sports shop to buy him some trainers for his birthday last month and Moonie took the little ones back for a rest as the hotel is pretty close to the sports shops Ollie wanted . I also got some new trainers for my running down at athletics club .
6.Out for some dinner but we were all just running on empty and by 8.30 I was in my room and almost asleep !!!
Extra photos too today xxxx
